9 Evergreen Lane
Set within a lush, overgrown garden with a backdrop of large oaks, this late 1980s home was reimagined to harmonize with its natural surroundings. Originally intended for a simple renovation, the house's potential emerged gradually, retaining only essential structural elements and minimizing disruption to the existing foundations. The home now acts as a threshold to the garden, inviting exploration through carefully designed layers of space.
Upon entry, an intimate courtyard leads to the front door, offering a glimpse of the expansive, tree-rich garden beyond. Ground floor living spaces merge with a verandah that terraces down to a manicured lawn, blurring the boundary between indoors and out. On the opposite side, the study and guest suite open onto a sheltered courtyard, creating private, intimate zones.
Upstairs, three east-facing bedrooms and a family room capture dappled afternoon light, with views of Table Mountain on the horizon. The design embodies two modes of living: one where nature and home are inseparable, and another where modern comforts embrace inward-facing, protected spaces.
